Jamie Kohler was a competitive Hunter/jumper rider competing across the East Coast showing many horses and ponies to the top in the nation. During her final junior year (1994), she rode a 13.3 Hand Large Pony, "Reach A Star," owned by Jennifer Watson of Charlotte , NC to Large Pony Champion and Grand Pony Champion at The Washington , D.C. and The Meadowlands, NJ International Horse Shows. After graduating from USC in December of 1997, with a BS in Business Management, she continued to train and ride horses with Ron Danta and Danny Robertshaw of Camden , SC. She eventually decided to ride and show professionally. had everything she wanted, or so she thought.
That is when she realized that something was missing and felt that she was not using the gifts GOD had given her for His Purpose. In 1998, Jamie started working with children with autism, teaching them to ride and sharing her love of horses. Ten years later, she established Blissful Dreams, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing compassion, love and acceptance to anyone in need. Jamie states, “I began to realize that I could still make horses my career, but I could do it to help others. GOD gets all the credit for Blissful Dreams. Jamie has been riding horses since the age of 6 and is a licensed veterinary technician. She lives in Huger, SC with her daughter, Samantha. Samantha is a Wofford alumna, and Graduate Student at the University of South Carolina, where she is pursuing her masters in Social Work.
Beth has a background in criminal justice and currently works with at risk youth. Her love of animals began as a child while spending summers at her grandparents horse ranch in Oklahoma. Beth is dedicated to changing the lives of others through the love of animals.
Local contractor and owner of Ridgeline Roofing and Exteriors, John is a Kentucky native that moved to Charleston in 2003. An animal lover at heart, he feels most at home fixing things that improve the lives of the rescues.
Steve is a Charleston area attorney and former federal law enforcement officer. His family loves animals of all kinds, and he enjoys serving as a Blissful Dreams volunteer with his oldest daughter, Sayelor, who recently started horseback riding lessons. Steve is thankful for the opportunity to serve God through such a unique Christian ministry, and to see how these amazing rescued animals profoundly impact people's lives.
Jim is originally from Ohio and has made his South Carolina his home. He currently works full time as an in home Occupational Therapist. He has experience working with disabled riders. He is a true animal lover and rescues animals of all kinds. He is the Dad of Charlie Brown, the cat, and his parrots, JoJo and Rosie.
Holly retired to South Carolina from Pennsylvania. She was a Professional School Counselor and Director of the Graduate Program at Westminster College. She volunteered at a horse therapy program in her hometown for many years. She loves working with horses and teachers. Holly greets all of our riders with a smile.
